The Ramblers has its Head Office in London and a membership in England and Wales of about 135,000 organised into geographical areas. The Areas are in turn are divided into around 500 Groups and In Northamptonshire we have five,  four of which are organised on a geographic basis: Daventry, Kettering, Northampton and Wellingborough, whilst the other, the 20s/ 30s Group, covers the whole County.

The Groups organise hundreds of led walks a year and some arrange weekend trips and longer holidays and social events.  We at Area allocate funding whilst ensuring that all activities carried out by the Groups are in line with The Ramblers charitable aims. We also organise campaigning events and rallies and promote The Ramblers at Shows and Festivals.  Making representations to Local Authorities on the funding, maintenance and improvement of the rights of way network is another important role.
